The Valcambi 1000 g cast gold bar is a one-kilogram physical gold product with a stated fineness of 999.0. The important distinction is the declared purity, not a claim that the bar is somehow low quality compared with a separate 999.9 product.
What does 999.0 fineness mean?
Fineness describes how much of the material is gold out of 1,000 parts. A marking of 999.0 means a declared fineness of 999 parts gold per 1,000. The separate 999.9 version states a fineness of 999.9 parts per 1,000.
That difference should be read as a product specification, not as a judgement about whether one bar is “good” and the other is “bad.”
At 1 kg, concentration also matters. The full weight remains in one physical product, providing less divisibility than holding the same total weight in separate smaller bars.
About Valcambi
Valcambi is a Swiss precious-metals refinery based in Balerna and founded in 1961. It produces cast and minted precious-metal products across a broad range of weights.
The refinery is represented on the LBMA Gold Good Delivery List.
Packaging and certification
The 1000 g cast format measures approximately 117 × 53 mm across its main rectangular profile. At one kilogram, the bar concentrates the entire gold weight into a single large cast unit.
How the price is determined
The price reflects the stated weight and fineness together with the relevant gold market value. A product premium also covers refining, casting, inspection, logistics and distribution.
The 999.0 and 999.9 versions should therefore be compared by their stated fineness and current product terms.
